Salalah International Airport is the second busiest airport in Oman and is popular with visitors to the coast of the country. Situated just 5km from the center of Salalah, the airport only recently opened up in 2015 and is noted for its excellent modern facilities. At the airport there are a few places to eat and drink to stay refreshed as well as other amenities including two airport lounges - Al Khareef Lounge by Oman Air and Plaza Premium Lounge. To get into central Salalah there are taxis or international car rental companies are available at the airport for travelers who want their own vehicle during their stay.

Airport Information - Departing

Dubai International Airport is the main airport in Dubai and the world’s busiest in terms of passenger traffic. The airport is comprised of three passenger terminals which each offer a variety of amenities to keep travelers happy. Dubai International Airport is renowned for its world-class shops and restaurants and is also home to many luxurious airport lounges for those who like to travel in style. Terminals 1 and 3 are connected to the Dubai Metro network which allows passengers to easily get to the airport from the wider Dubai area, while there is a free shuttle bus service to Terminal 2. Travelers should not mistake Dubai International Airport with Al Maktoum International Airport.

What to Expect in Salalah

Salalah has a hot climate as you would expect from a city in the Middle East, but it is unique for its Khareef monsoon season between July and September. During this period the landscape is transformed with lush vegetation and fruit, making it a very popular time of year for visitors. Visitors from the UAE and other Gulf Cooperation Council nations are able to enter the country without a visa. Prices in Salalah tend to be cheaper compared to Dubai, although taxis from the airport are known to be rather steep.
