Ashgabat International Airport was originally opened in 1994 before a new airport was constructed in 2016 in place of the old one. The airport is comprised of a single passenger terminal in addition to a VIP terminal and offers plenty of amenities and facilities for travelers to enjoy. Once your flight has touched down in Ashgabat, the most convenient way to reach your destination is by taxi and the journey is only a brief one. While at the airport you can look forward to a decent range of eateries and cafes, while you can also do some duty-free shopping and find a few retail stores.

Airport Information - Departing

Dubai International Airport is the main airport serving Dubai comprised of three passenger terminals. Getting to the airport is possible by public transport using the Dubai Metro network, although extensive parking is available for those who will be driving. Flydubai and Turkmenistan both operate from Terminal 2. While you wait for flights you can enjoy a huge range of amenities and facilities so you’re sure to find something to do. As well as offering a diverse selection of restaurants, cafes and eateries, passengers can explore the airport’s many different shops including designer brands and duty-free goods. You can also get online for free with complimentary Wi-Fi or even catch up on rest at a sleeping pod.

What to Expect in Ashgabat

In Ashgabat the weather gets very hot over the summer, but temperatures drop significantly over the winter and snowfall isn’t uncommon. All nationals visiting Turkmenistan will have to arrange a visa before traveling, while the city is 1 hour ahead of Dubai so you will need to put your clocks forward when you land. The most convenient way to get around Ashgabat is by taxi, although there are local buses available for those on a budget.
