Kathmandu is served by Tribhuvan International Airport, the only international airport in Nepal and more commonly known as Kathmandu Airport. There are currently two airlines providing direct flights from Dubai to Kathmandu (DXB to KTM) - flydubai and Nepal Airlines. Other airlines provide cheap flights from Dubai to Kathmandu but this requires at least one connection. The direct flights to Kathmandu are from Dubai International Airport, not to be confused with Al Maktoum International Airport. However, Nepal Airlines flights have recently been relocated to Al Maktoum International Airport and will continue to fly from this airport to Kathmandu until 31 June 2019, when flights will resume from Dubai International Airport.

Airport Information - Arriving

Tribhuvan International Airport has two terminals - a Domestic Terminal and an International Airport. The two terminals are housed within the same building complex, enabling passengers to walk between terminals. The airport's located in the Kathmandu valley around 6 km from the center of the city. The airport provides ample facilities for travelers including drinks and snacks as well as duty-free shopping in the Departures area. There are numerous ways for passengers to reach the city center including public buses which take between 20-30 minutes, while taxis can also be pre-booked from the taxi kiosk in the Arrivals section and car rental is available.

Airport Information - Departing

All direct flights to Kathmandu are from Dubai International Airport, the world’s busiest international airport serving over 77 million passengers each year. The airport offers world-class shops, restaurants and other amenities including many airport lounges and duty free shopping. Dubai International Airport consists of three passenger terminals. Passengers flying to Kathmandu with flydubai will depart from Terminal 2, while those traveling with Nepal Airlines will fly from Terminal 1. All of the terminals in the airport are connected by the Dubai Metro network which also offers access to the wider Dubai area. If you will be flying out of Al Maktoum International Airport you can catch public buses from central Dubai to reach the airport, as the metro is not currently connected to the airport.

Kathmandu Travel Information

Most nationalities including UAE nationals will be required to obtain a visa upon arriving at the airport. The weather in Kathmandu remains relatively warm for most of the year, although temperatures do drop slightly over the winter between December and February. The monsoon season in the region tends to fall between June and September, while the driest period is between November and March. Compared to the heat in Dubai, temperatures in Kathmandu are relatively cooler, especially during the winter months.
