When to Visit Chicago
The Chicago weather is excellent through Spring and Summer between April and October when temperatures are pleasantly warm. The busiest tourism period in the city is during the summer when many of the most popular festivals take place. While over the winter temperatures can get very cold, there are so many things to do in Chicago that it doesn’t really matter. Cheap flights to Chicago may be easier to find outside of the peak summer season, but if you get in and book early enough you can always find cheap rates.

The main airport serving Chicago is Chicago O’Hare International Airport, often known simply as O’Hare Airport is located 27km from the city. There are direct flights from the UAE to Chicago O’Hare International Airport - Emirates operate flights from Dubai International Airport, while those coming from Abu Dhabi International Airport can fly with Etihad Airways. Chicago O’Hare International Airport was once the world’s busiest airport, now ranking as the sixth busiest. Midway International Airport is another airport serving Chicago and is only 10km outside of the city center. The airport primarily operates domestic flights and does not serve any routes to the Middle East.
Chicago Travel Information
The United States has strict visa requirements which requires most visitors to arrange a visa before arriving in the country, although countries part of the Visa Waiver Program do not need to do this. As the UAE is not part of the Visa Waiver Program, nationals from the UAE will need to acquire a visa before traveling. The fee for a tourist visa starts at around 590AED* and must be arrange before flying. The currency in the United States is the United States Dollar, while Chicago is 9 hours behind the UAE so make sure your clocks are put back when you arrive.
