Reasons To Visit Ivory Coast
The Ivory Coast still retains much of its French colonial quality but has its own unique flavor to its culture. Visitors to the country can expect to find many interesting cultural attractions and historical sites alongside plenty of opportunities to enjoy the beautiful outdoors. There are some truly stunning attractions which should be high up on your itinerary such as the sprawling Basilica of Our Lady of Peace in Yamoussoukro and the many historic buildings in Abidjan like St Paul’s Cathedral. Those who want to go out on an adventure into the wilderness might consider climbing Mount Nienokoue and looking out over the dense forestry from the peak, or you can take advantage of the country’s position on the sea by relaxing on one of its beautiful beaches.
Arriving In Ivory Coast
The main airport in the Ivory Coast is Port Bouet Airport which is situated around 15 km away from the largest city in the country, Abidjan. If you are looking to fly from the UAE to Ivory Coast, it is not currently possible to make the journey directly. However, it is conveniently possible to travel out of Dubai International Airport with Emirates to Abidjan with a stopover in Accra. Read our guide on Emirates baggage allowance information.
At Port Bouet Airport you can find a decent range of amenities and services available including a few cafés and fast food outlets as well as duty-free shopping. When your flight has touched down at the airport you can find metered taxis at all hours of the day just outside of the airport, while many regional hotels will run their own shuttle buses.
