What’s the SpiceJet hand baggage allowance?
On international flights you’re allowed to take one bag, a laptop case and a duty free shopping bag weighing a maximum of 7kg. If you’re traveling with an infant you get an additional piece of 7kg hand luggage.
What’s the domestic baggage allowance on SpiceJet?
You’re entitled to 15kg of free baggage on domestic SpiceJet flights. But note: no hand baggage is allowed on planes departing from Srinagar, Jammu and Leh due to airport regulations.
How much baggage can I check-in on SpiceJet?
If you’re flying on an international SpiceJet flight the baggage allowance depends on where you’re departing from. From airports including Dubai, Colombo, Muscat and Kabul, the allowance is 30kg. On flights from Male, Bangkok and Dhaka, the allowance is 20kg. Always check directly with the airline!
How many bags can I check-in on SpiceJet?
There’s no limit on the number of bags you can check in, but each single bag must weigh no more than 32kg.
What’s the SpiceJet Hand Baggage Only Fare?
This is a special fare available on domestic flights where you pay for hand baggage only. Passengers who turn up with baggage to check in will be charged INR (Dh23) as a penalty.
How much does SpiceJet excess baggage cost?
Again, it depends on where you’re flying to and from, and is worked out in the local currency. Here are a few examples:
- Flights departing Dubai: AED100 per kilo
- Flights from India to Dubai: INR525 (AED27) per kilo
- Flights from Muscat: OMR4 (AED38) per kilo
Tips to make the most of the SpiceJet baggage allowance:
1. Pack like a professional
We can’t emphasize enough how being a smart packer will help avoid any excess baggage fees. And don’t forget, when you’re going on holiday you’re always likely to come back with more luggage than you went with – think souvenirs, presents, etc – so departing with your maximum luggage allowance isn’t the smartest way to travel. Leave yourself a few kilos spare to account for anything you might buy on your trip.
2. Weigh your luggage
Don’t rely on your instinct and arms to guess the weight of your luggage, for under AED50 you can pick up a decent portable luggage scale to tell you exactly how much your bags weigh. That way you’ll avoid those horrible excess charges at the airport. Another tip – if you’re traveling somewhere where shopping is likely to be on your itinerary (i.e India!), take the scale with you. It won’t take up much room in your case and it’ll help you avoid any excess baggage charges on the return flight.
3. Use a cabin-approved bag
Luggage has come a long way in recent years. Some of the best cabin bags on the market are stylish, lightweight and fit within most airline’s baggage rules. You’ll kick yourself if a few extra centimeters leaves you hundreds of dirhams out of pocket.
4. Do your research
For a budget airline SpiceJet is very generous with its baggage allowance – lots of others would make you pay for even 1kg of luggage.
