In Basra the main airport serving the city is Basra International Airport which is situated roughly 15km (9 miles) from the city center. If you are looking to fly from Dubai to Basra then you can fly with Emirates, Flydubai and Iraqi Airways. Be advised that flights to Basra depart from Dubai International Airport (DXB), not to be confused with Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC), which is Dubai’s other airport.

Airport Information - Arriving
Basra International Airport is Iraq’s second busiest airport offering a range of domestic and international flights. Once you have arrived at the airport, the best way for you to reach your destination is by taxi. There are metered taxis available right outside the airport building so you can get a fair price when traveling to your destination. The airport itself only offers a small variety of amenities and facilities but there are still a couple of shops and dining and drinking options so you won’t go hungry.

Dubai International Airport is Dubai’s primary airport and also the world’s busiest in terms of international passenger traffic. The airport is made up of three passenger terminals which you can conveniently transfer between either by bus, on foot or on the Dubai Metro. The easiest way to reach the airport if you aren’t driving or taking a taxi is to hop on the Dubai Metro which can take you to Terminal 1 or Terminal 3. There is also a shuttle bus to and from Terminal 2. Once you have arrived at the airport you can enjoy a huge range of amenities and facilities so you’re sure to find something to do to pass the time. Alongside its vast number of shops, the airport is home to many different places to eat and drink serving everything from high-end cuisine to budget fast food and everything in between.

In Basra the weather is slightly cooler compared to Dubai but still gets very hot, especially over the summer. Most nationalities including those from the UAE will have to arrange a visa first before arriving in Basra.
