Islamabad is the capital of Pakistan and was previously served by Benazir Bhutto International Airport, located 20km from the center of the city. However, this airport is now out of operation and has been replaced by the brand new Islamabad International Airport which is also 20km from the city. While there are flights from Dubai to Islamabad originating from Dubai International Airport, there are not currently any flights leaving from Al Maktoum International Airport, Dubai’s second airport. Those wishing to fly from Dubai to Islamabad are able to travel with Airblue, Emirates and Pakistan International Airlines .

Islamabad International Airport is almost brand new having opened up in May 2018 to replace the much older Benazir Bhutto International Airport. This single-terminal airport has the capacity to handle up to 9 million travelers currently and will eventually serve up to 25 million annually. You can find a decent range of amenities at the new Islamabad International Airport, although there are still many vacant lots where shops, restaurants and other facilities will open up in the near future. The most reliable form of transport from the airport to your destination is by taxi although car rental is an option.

Airport Information - Departing

The main international airport serving Dubai is Dubai International Airport, the world’s busiest in terms of international passenger traffic. The airport is renowned for its fantastic amenities which includes all of the designer brands and luxury goods you could want in addition to a wide selection of places to eat and drink. The airport is made up of three terminals - while Terminals 1 and 3 are linked to the Dubai Metro network, there is a free shuttle bus that can take you to Terminal 2. As well as utilizing the Dubai Metro, many opt for the directness offered by a taxi in order to reach the airport. Those who want to wait for flights in style may want to stay at one of the many airport lounges available offering excellent food and refreshments alongside other amenities such as Wi-Fi access.

What to Expect in Islamabad

Islamabad is Pakistan’s capital home to many of the country’s finest cultural attractions.
