There are plenty of flights options to choose from if you are traveling from Dubai to Istanbul, with many leading airlines providing direct flights on this route out of Dubai International Airport. You will be able to catch flights to Istanbul Ataturk Airport with Emirates and Turkish Airlines, although this will only be until 4 April 2019. After this, flights will arrive at the brand-new Istanbul Airport which will replace Istanbul Ataturk Airport. Alternatively, you can fly directly to Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport with Emirates, flydubai, Pegasus Airlines and Turkish Airlines.

Airport Information - Arriving
Istanbul Ataturk Airport is the main airport serving Istanbul and is located around 25 km from the city center. The airport is set to be replaced by the newly built Istanbul Airport, with most flights shifting to the new airport on 5 April 2019. Istanbul Ataturk Airport is a large airport with excellent facilities and amenities for travelers. You will find plenty of stores, restaurants and other amenities like free Wi-Fi access and airport lounges for an enjoyable stay. There are several ways that you can travel into Istanbul including on the local metro network or by bus as well as by taxi. Car rental is also available.
Istanbul Airport is Istanbul’s new airport which is in the process of taking over from the older Istanbul Ataturk Airport. By April 2019 the airport is set to be in full operation. The airport is set within a single terminal complex which handles both domestic and international flights. This terminal is projected to be the world’s largest and is planned to eventually have the capacity to serve up to 200 million passengers every year. Although the airport is still a project under development, you’ll find all of the basic amenities and services you would expect and many more stores, restaurants and other luxuries will gradually open up as the airport comes to completion.
Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport is Istanbul’s secondary airport situated approximately 35 km from the city. When you arrive at the airport there are several ways to reach your destination including by public transport or by taxi. There are also car rental agencies on site. The airport is housed within a single passenger terminal and offers a good range of amenities and services for travelers. You’ll be able to find all of the essentials including retail and travel stores, duty-free shopping and several restaurants and eateries. There are also a couple of CIP airport lounges and Wi-Fi is available for a fee if you need to access the web.
Airport Information - Departing
Dubai International Airport is situated only 5 km from the center of Dubai and is made up of three passenger terminals. You can travel to Terminal 1 or Terminal 3 directly using the Dubai metro network, while the airport is also linked to the city by bus. Alternatively, drivers will be able to find extensive short- and long-term parking. When you get to the airport you will be amazed by the world-class designer brands, luxury shops and extensive duty-free shopping on offer. Hungry travelers will find many dining and drinking options, with everything from high-end cuisine to convenient fast food available. The airport also has many luxurious airport lounges with many allowing entrance for a fee on the door. Other facilities available at the airport include indoor gardens, rest zones and complimentary Wi-Fi access.
What to Expect in Istanbul
There are a wide variety of hotels in Istanbul so you're sure to find something that suits your needs. Istanbul summers are hot but not as hot as Dubai with average highs reaching over 26 degrees in July and August. Winters in Istanbul are surprisingly cold so you will definitely need warm clothing with you and it also rains frequently from December to February. If you are a UAE national, you can go online before your trip to Turkey and apply for an e-visa which will let you stay for up to 90 days. Istanbul is an easy city to get around as it has an excellent public transport network, but you could consider renting a car if you plan on doing some exploring.
