The city of Ahmedabad is served by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport which is located only 9km from the center of the city. Those looking to travel from Dubai International Airport to Ahmedabad can fly with a number of carriers. Currently Emirates, flydubai and SpiceJet fly from Dubai to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. Be advised that flights to Ahmedabad from Dubai are currently only available from Dubai International Airport and not the newer Al Maktoum International Airport.

Airport Information - Arriving
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport handles over 7 million visitors a year and also serves the nearby city of Gandhinagar. The airport is made up of two passenger terminals, the newest of which is Terminal T2 which was first opened in 2010. There are only a few food and drink options available at the airport, so it is best to pack something to eat if you anticipate a long wait at the airport. Additional amenities at the airport include the Port Lounge which is available to all passengers booking in advance as well as free Wi-Fi for up to 30 minutes. Hopping in a taxi outside the terminal building is probably the best way to get into the city, although there are car rental companies available at the airport.

Dubai International Airport is the main airport serving Dubai and also the world’s busiest airport in terms of international passenger traffic. The airport has three terminals each offering a wealth of amenities whether it’s designer brands and duty free shopping or a variety of dining choices you need. Those who enjoy waiting for flights in luxury may also consider entering one of the airport lounges which can be found in each terminal. Getting to the airport is quick and easy as Terminals 1 and 3 are connected to the Dubai Metro network, although those needing to get to Terminal 2 will then need to hop on the free bus shuttle which takes 20 minutes.

Ahmedabad is the sixth largest city in India with a population of over 6.3 million. The climate in the region is hot for most of the year, although it can get rather cool over winter so you may need to bring a jumper. Be forewarned that the rainy season in the city is between July and August, while the rest of the year sees almost no rainfall whatsoever.
