Airport Information - Arriving

Istanbul Ataturk Airport is Istanbul’s primary airport situated roughly 25km from the center of the city. The airport is home to two passenger terminals which are interconnected so you can travel between terminals on foot if you have to transfer between flights. Once you have landed at the airport there are plenty of ways to journey into the center of Istanbul including on the Metro or by bus as well as the old-fashioned way by taxi. There are also car rental agencies. The airport offers a wide range of shops, restaurants and coffee shops so you will not be lacking in things to do while you wait for your flight.

Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport is Istanbul’s secondary airport located around 35km from the city. When you have arrived at the airport it is possible to take a ferry or a bus in order to reach the center of Istanbul, although taxis are also available if you would prefer this. The airport offers plenty of amenities and facilities including a range of restaurants and shops, while Wi-Fi is also available for a fee so you can stay connected.

Airport Information - Departing

Sheremetyevo International Airport is the main airport serving Moscow and also Russia’s busiest situated around 30km from the capital. The airport is comprised of four operational passenger terminals which are linked together by a shuttle bus, so you can easily get to the right terminal once you get to the airport. The airport is large and offers all of the amenities and services you would need including restaurants, cafes and shops. Getting to the airport is possible in a number of different ways including on the Aeroexpress train or by local buses.

Domodedovo International Airport is Moscow’s secondary airport comprised of a single passenger terminal. You can get to the airport on the Aeroexpress train or catch a bus or local train if you would rather not take a taxi. At the airport you can benefit from free Wi-Fi or wait in a comfortable airport lounge, while the airport also offers a decent range of restaurants, shops and cafes.

What to Expect in Istanbul

In Istanbul you can expect the weather to be a lot warmer than Moscow no matter what time of year you visit, although over the winter Istanbul can get rather cold so you will still need to pack something warm with you. Russian nationals are entitled to enter Turkey on a visa-free basis for up to 60 days, while UAE nationals can arrange an eVisa before making the journey.
