Lisbon Airport, known also as Lisbon Portela Airport, is the primary international airport serving the city of Lisbon. The airport is Portugal’s busiest handling over 20 million travelers each year and has been nominated for the award of Europe’s Leading Airport for eight years in a row. As the main operating hub of TAP Portgual, Lisbon Airport operates flights all over the globe including flights to Dubai with Emirates.

Terminals at Lisbon Airport

There are two passenger terminals at Lisbon Airport - Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Terminal 1 is the primary terminal and the base of most of the airport’s operations, while the newer Terminal 2 is mainly dedicated to low-cost carriers and is much smaller in size compared to Terminal 1. In order to transfer between terminals you will need to hop on the free shuttle bus service provided by the airport.

Facilities at Lisbon Airport

There are many facilities and amenities available to travelers awaiting flights at Lisbon Airport. While most of the airport’s best shops and restaurants are located in the larger Terminal 1, there are still basic amenities available at Terminal 2 so you will be able to find everything you need. Passengers can look forward to extensive duty free shopping at the airport alongside a wide selection of retail stores ranging from fashion and beauty products to souvenirs and travel basics.

There are a number of places to relax and grab a bite to eat at Lisbon Airport, or you can sit at one of the cafes and enjoy a drink whilst waiting for your flight. If you prefer waiting in airport lounges during your stay, there are a number of airport lounges situated in Terminal 1 where you can either pay on the door or pre-book online before getting to the airport.

You can stay connected at all times at Lisbon Airport as free Wi-Fi is available throughout, while there are also many internet kiosks if you don’t have your electronic device with you. If you are traveling with children then the Family Room is the perfect place to go, while there is also a children’s play area available. If you are feeling tired, there are two Living Spot rest zones located in Terminal 1 which allow weary travelers to catch up on some sleep.

Lisbon Airport Travel Information

There are a number of ways for travelers to get to and from Lisbon Airport as the airport enjoys extensive transportation links. There are a number of buses you can use to get into the center of Lisbon including the Aerobus, while a number of public bus routes also run to the airport. The airport is also linked to the metro system, with the journey into central Lisbon only taking around 25 minutes.

Alternatively, taxis are a very popular way for travelers to get around in Lisbon and offer a direct route to your destination. Taxis can be found outside the airport and are required to stick to a metered price. You can also find many leading car rental companies at the airport to enjoy the use of your own vehicle during your visit.
