When to Visit Dhaka
The Dhaka weather is hot all year round, although it does cool off a bit over the winter between December and February. The city also experiences a lengthy rainy season from May to September, so this may be a period to avoid if you have lots of plans to go out and explore the city and the surrounding area. Many choose to visit Dhaka when the weather is more pleasant from November to February and when rainfall is minimal. Although this is the peak tourism season, it is still possible to find cheap flights to Dhaka if you book early enough.

The main airport in Dhaka is Shahjalal International Airport, the largest in Bangladesh. There are a number of airlines offering direct flights from the UAE to Dhaka. There are four airlines that offer from Dubai International Airport - Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Emirates and flydubai, while visitors from Abu Dhabi International Airport can travel with Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Etihad Airways and Rotana Jet. Air Arabia offer flights from Ras al Khaimah Airport and Sharjah Airport to Dhaka.

A number of nationalities are granted visa-free access to Bangladesh but this does not include those from the UAE. Nationals from the UAE are able to acquire a visa upon arriving in the country. The visa is valid for a period of up to 30 days and can be obtained at the airport. The currency used in Bangladesh is the Bangladeshi Taka, while Bangladesh is 2 hours ahead of the UAE so make sure you put your clocks forward.
