Muscat is the capital of Oman and its main cultural and commercial hub boasting an exciting range of attractions both old and new to suit people of all tastes. The rich history of the region is evident in Muscat’s wide selection of historic landmarks and monuments such as the centuries-old Al Jalall and Al Mirani forts, while newer landmarks include the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque. When to Visit Muscat

The weather in Muscat remains hot all year round, with temperatures reaching sweltering highs in the summer similar to the UAE. Anywhere between October and April is ideal as temperatures are pleasantly warm yet not too hot. The peak tourism season is over the winter period, but there are always cheap flights to Muscat available if you book early enough. Conversely, the extreme heat of the summer makes it the least popular time to visit, so it may be easier to find cheaper prices during this period.

Muscat International Airport, previously known as Seeb International Airport, is the main airport in Muscat situated around 30km outside the city. There are a number of airlines operating flights to Muscat from the UAE - from Dubai there is Emirates, flydubai, Oman Air, SalamAir and Swiss International Air Lines, while travelers coming from Abu Dhabi are able to fly with Etihad Airways, Oman Air and Rotana Jet. In addition to this, Air Arabia also offers flights to Muscat from Ras al Khaimah Airport and Sharjah Airport.
