Mangalore is served by Mangalore International Airport, previously known as Bajpe Airport, situated around 13km from central Mangalore. There are two airlines providing direct flights from Dubai to Mangalore - Air India Express and SpiceJet. Passengers should be advised that all flights to Mangalore from Dubai depart from Dubai International Airport which is not to be confused with Al Maktoum International Airport. Etihad Airwayss also offers cheap flights from Dubai to Mangalore but this will require connecting flights.

Airport Information - Arriving
Mangalore International Airport is comprised of two separate terminals housed within the same terminal complex. Terminal 1 is used for domestic operations, while Terminal 2 is the international terminal. This new terminal building was recently opened in 2010 and the old terminal building it replaced is now used seasonally to provide Hajj flights. At the airport there are numerous facilities and amenities open to passengers including duty free shopping in the Departures and Arrivals areas of Terminal 2 as well as a selection of places to eat. Most passengers opt for a prepaid taxi in order to get to central Mangalore which can be arranged 24 hours a day in the Arrivals area.
Airport Information - Departing
Dubai International Airport is made up of three passenger terminals which each offer a wide array of amenities such as duty free shopping, designer stores and restaurants. Terminal 3 is dedicated exclusively to all Emirates flights, while Terminals 1 and 2 operate all flights with other airlines. Passengers flying with Air India Express will board at Terminal 2, while those traveling with SpiceJet will depart from Terminal 1. Terminal 1 is part of the Dubai Metro network and Terminal 2 is accessible via a shuttle bus. Getting around the wider Dubai is also possible on the Metro network, while airport taxis are available outside each terminal.
What to Expect in Mangalore
The cost of living in Mangalore is significantly lower than Dubai, which is reflected in the average price of a meal for two at around 22AED compared to 150AED in Dubai. Public transport and taxi prices are also a lot lower than Dubai, making it a lot cheaper to explore. All passengers are required to apply for an e-visa at least four days prior to arriving in Mangalore.
The climate in Mangalore remains hot all year round, although it does experience a slight dip in temperatures during the monsoon season between June and September. The driest period in the region is between December and April which is when many choose to visit the city, so you can expect busier attractions and larger crowds of visitors during this period.
