Airport Information - Arriving

Islamabad International Airport opened in May 2018 and offers excellent modern facilities and amenities for travelers. The airport is located around 20 km from central Islamabad and will have the capacity to serve up to 25 million passengers annually upon completion. You’ll find a good variety of amenities and facilities at the airport including a food court with plenty of options and duty-free shopping, while in the future many of the vacant commercial lots will be occupied. The easiest way to travel into the city is to hop in a taxi just outside of the airport terminal - be sure to catch a licensed taxi and avoid any unregulated individual drivers. Alternatively you can pick up a rental car.

Airport Information - Departing

Abu Dhabi International Airport is the main airport serving Abu Dhabi located around 30 km from the city center. There are three passenger terminals at the airport which are all interlinked by a complimentary shuttle bus service so you can transfer between terminals if need be. Everything you would need for a pleasant experience can be found at the airport including a wide range of luxury and designer stores, duty-free shops, restaurants and eateries and many more amenities like free Wi-Fi access, luxurious airport lounges and rest zones. If you don’t want to take a taxi to the airport you can catch public buses which run to the airport from Abu Dhabi, or if you are driving you will find plenty of short- and long-term parking spots.

What to Expect in Islamabad

In Islamabad the weather can be almost as hot as Abu Dhabi with average highs reaching up to 39 degrees in June. The city experiences plenty of rainfall in July and August which may be the time to avoid visiting, while temperatures cool down a lot from November to February. UAE nationals flying to Pakistan need to have a valid visa in order to enter the country, although business visas are available on arrival. The currency you will need in Pakistan is the Pakistani rupee, while the country is just one hour ahead of the UAE.
