Travelers looking to fly from Sharjah to Istanbul will be able to catch direct flights with a few airlines to both of Istanbul’s main airports. Turkish Airlines offers nonstop flights to Istanbul Airport, while both Air Arabia and Pegasus Airlines operate flights to Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport.

Airport Information - Arriving

Istanbul Airport is Istanbul’s new airport, which commenced operations in April 2019. The airport is housed within a single passenger terminal complex which operates both domestic and international flights. The terminal is one of the largest in the world and will be able to handle up to 200 million travelers annually once complete. When you have arrived at the airport you will be able to find taxis readily available, while the airport is also served by a bus route. In the future it will also have a direct connection to the Istanbul metro network. The airport itself offers all of the essential amenities and services you would need and will in the future boast a huge range of commercial amenities and other facilities. You can currently enjoy all of the basics like restaurants, duty-free shopping and other retail stores.

Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport is Istanbul’s secondary airport located around 35 km from the city center. Public transport is available from the airport as well as metered taxis which can take you directly to destination. You’ll find everything you would need for a pleasant experience at the airport including several eateries and cafés, duty-free and retail shopping and a couple of airport lounges. Wi-Fi is available at the airport but you will need to pay a fee to access the web. Leading car rental agencies have a presence at the airport as well as local providers, so you can easily collect a vehicle when you have landed.

Airport Information - Departing

Sharjah International Airport is situated 15 km from the city center of Sharjah and is set within a single passenger terminal. You can catch the airport bus from Sharjah to reach the airport if you don’t want to pay for a taxi or drive yourself. The airport offers everything you would expect including plenty of dining and drinking spots in the food court as well as extensive duty-free and retail shopping. You will also be able to connect to the airport’s free Wi-Fi network to stay in touch with family and colleagues.

What to Expect in Istanbul

There are plenty of hotels in Istanbul catering for every budget. UAE nationals traveling to Turkey will be able to apply online for an e-visa which allows a stay of up to 90 days. The weather in Istanbul isn’t as hot as Sharjah but still gets warm with average highs of around 25 degrees from June to August. However, you will need to bring some warm clothing with you in the winter as it can get chilly in the evenings. Istanbul has an extensive public transport network which includes a metro, so it is very easy to get around and explore.
