Budapest Airport, known in full as Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport, is Hungary’s primary international gateway serving Budapest, the capital of the country. Situated 16km from Budapest, the airport handles over 11 million travelers a year and offers both domestic and international flights including flights to Dubai with Emirates and Wizz Air.

Terminals at Budapest Airport

There are three passenger terminals at Budapest Airport, although Terminal 1 is currently out of use. Terminal 2A is utilized for flights within the Schengen Area, while Terminal 2B is for all other flights. The airport also houses the Sky Court commercial area which connected Terminals 2A and 2B together. The two passenger terminals are within easy traveling distance of one another, so you don’t have a long trip on your hands if you are transferring between flights.

A wide range of amenities and facilities are available for travelers at Budapest Airport in both terminals as well as in the Sky Court complex. There are many places to eat and drink available throughout the airport ranging from quick eateries to family restaurants, so you are sure to find something to suit your tastes. A selection of bars and cafes can also be found if you would prefer to wait for your flight with a drink or a light snack. Additionally, in the Sky Court there are eateries open 24 hours a day so you’ll never go hungry waiting at Budapest Airport.

Many shops are located at the airport in all terminals and in the Sky Court, so you can pass the time browsing through stores. As well as the latest designer brands and luxury goods, all the basic travel necessities you would expect including bookstores and pharmacies are available. Duty free shopping can also be found in both terminals and the Sky Court, so you can find some cheap products to buy before catching your flight.

Travelers with children can visit the Sky Court to find a children’s play area, while free Wi-Fi is available throughout the airport for up to 2 hours. Numerous airport lounges are located across the airport, many of which allow access for a fee on the door. Disabled passengers will find Budapest Airport to be very accommodating with wheelchair access and special assistance available - be sure to get in touch with your airline at least 48 hours before your flight to make arrangements.

Budapest Airport Travel Information

Budapest Airport benefits from extensive transport links which makes getting to your destination easy. If you prefer public transportation there are a number of buses going to and from the airport, while there is also a train station close by if you want to go by rail. The airport also has its own official airport shuttle service which can take you to destinations across Budapest.

If you would prefer a private means of transportation then you can book a taxi by visiting a taxi counter at either terminal, or you can simply turn up to the taxi rank and hop in. Be sure to stick with the licensed airport taxis and avoid accepting any unsolicited journeys. Many internationally recognized car rental companies also operate at the airport if you want to rent your own vehicle during your stay. Both short and long term parking can be found at the airport - be sure to book online before your trip for a discounted price.
