From its main base at Bahrain International Airport, Gulf Air flies to 41 different destinations across three continents. The flag carrier of Bahrain and one of the oldest airlines in the Middle East, Gulf Air is known for its excellent quality of service and strong timekeeping. First formed in 1950 under the name Gulf Aviation, the airline was taken over by Bahrain in 2006 and has steadily grown as an airline in the Middle East. The frequent flyer program of Gulf Air is Falcon Flyer which offers loyal passengers many excellent perks, including access to its exclusive Falcon Gold lounges in London Heathrow, Dubai International Airport and Bahrain International Airport.

How to Check In

Those flying with Gulf Air are able to check-in online or do it the old fashioned way at the airport. Passengers wishing to check-in online can do so from 24 hours up to 90 minutes before your scheduled departure time. You will be required to print off your boarding pass and present it at the airport, while those checking in online can also check their baggage in at dedicated counters in the airport. A select few airports including Dubai International Airport, Doha International Airport and Abu Dhabi International Airport also support a mobile boarding pass which can make checking in easier.

Baggage Allowances and Fees

Passengers with Gulf Air are allowed free checked baggage in addition to hand baggage to take on board. Those flying in Economy Class are entitled to up to 30kg of baggage, while Falcon Gold passengers are allowed 40kg. Passengers who are also members of the Falcon Flyer frequent flyer program are permitted additional baggage between 15-25kg depending on your level of membership. Travelers should be advised that no item of baggage can exceed 32kg due to international regulations.


During the check-in process, travelers are offered the chance to select their seats. Economy Class passengers are afforded a seat pitch of between 30-33 inches, while those in Business Class can enjoy between 45-82 inches. First Class seating offers supreme comfort with lie-flat seats, allowing passengers to lay back and relax during the flight. All passengers on Gulf Air flights are served a meal, with Economy passengers able to enjoy a three-course meal. Booking Fees
