Kuwait has one airport, Kuwait International Airport, situated around 15 km outside of Kuwait City. The airport handles over 15 million passengers each year and serves as the hub of Kuwait Airways and Jazeera Airways. Most of the flights arriving at the airport are from other Middle Eastern countries, although a number of airlines provide cheap flights to Kuwait from destinations around the globe including London, Paris and New York. The airport offers an extensive range of facilities including a wide selection of eateries and numerous shops in the Commercial Center area. Kuwait offers an exciting range of attractions and historical sites to cater for people of all ages. Within Kuwait City, the capital of the country, there is a diverse blend of modern and historic attractions ranging from the artefacts in the National Museum to the city’s many modern shopping malls and bustling marketplaces. Kuwait also has a lot to offer for outdoor enthusiasts with its excellent golf courses, beachside spots and water-based activities like sailing and scuba diving.

Those interested in exploring the unique heritage of the country can visit many of Kuwait City’s cultural sites including the Seif Palace, constructed in 1896, or the relatively new Grand Mosque. Kuwait City is also a thriving modern city particularly known for its world-class shopping centers and diverse range of restaurants serving up cuisine from all around the globe. The locally named ‘Restaurant’s Road’ in Salmiya is home to dozens of local restaurants where authentic local cuisine can be experienced.

Outside of Kuwait City the country is famed for its world-class resorts that line the coast, offering the perfect base to enjoy the sunny Kuwaiti beaches. Water-based activities are particularly popular including powerboating and scuba diving, while the many spas and sea clubs are a great place for all the family. Horse riding is another national pastime and many of the country’s most prestigious riding clubs are at their most active during the winter when temperatures are cooler.

When to Visit Kuwait

Given that temperatures can reach considerable highs during the summer, the coolest period to visit the country is between November and April when temperatures are pleasantly warm. Most nationals will require a visa in order to enter the country which can be arranged on arrival which will last for up to three months, although citizens from a select few countries including UAE and Bahrain do not require a visa.
