Aegean Airlines is Greece’s largest airline based in Athens, Greece. The airline was established as Aegean Aviation in 1987 before rebranding in 1999. Aegean Airlines has received many prestigious awards over their history including being named Skytrax Best Regional Airline in Europe for 6 years running. The airline has nearly tripled their annual number of passengers served from 4.3 million in 2005 to 11.6 million in 2015, reflecting their significant growth as one of Europe’s major airlines.

How to Check in

Checking in to a flight with Aegean Airlines can be done at your place of departure or through the airline’s online check-in service with the exception of a small number of airports, so be sure to check whether your chosen airport is eligible for online check-in. Online check-in is available 48 hours prior to flight departures. Passengers with baggage to check-in are still able to check-in online and will need to go to the designated check-in counter before departing. Travelers checking in online will receive a Mobile Boarding Pass to your device, although alternatively you can print the pass out or visit an airport kiosk to get your boarding pass up to 30 minutes before departure.

Baggage Allowances and Fees

Although baggage allowances can vary from flight to flight, Economy - Flex passengers are entitled to 1 piece up to 23kg, while those in Business Class are allowed 2 pieces up to 32kg each. Additional baggage weight is possible with an additional price depending on your flights. Travelers should be advised that the airline offer cheaper rates if payment is prearranged rather than paying at the airport. All passengers on Aegean Airlines flights are permitted 1 hand baggage piece not exceeding 8kg or dimensions of 56cm x 45cm x 25cm, with Business Class passengers allowed 2 pieces of hand baggage.


Travelers are able to choose a seat when checking in online or confirm their allocated seat for no additional fee. Passengers in Economy Class can enjoy 30 inches of legroom in thin leather seats alongside in-flight entertainment. Those in Business Class can look forward to 33 inches of legroom alongside many luxurious services such as complimentary drinks, a warm towel service and table cloth dining.
