Xiamen Airlines

Xiamen Airlines, also known as XiamenAir, is a Chinese airline with its main operating hub at Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport and additional hubs at Fuzhou Changle International Airport and Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport, Xiamen Airlines flies to 70 destinations with a large fleet of over 140 aircraft. As a member of the SkyTeam alliance, Xiamen Airlines has consistently been rated as the best airline in Mainland China and also runs two subsidiary airlines, Jiangxi Air and Hebei Airlines. The airline also holds codeshare agreements with a number of leading carriers including Korean Air, KLM and Malaysia Airlines.

How to Check in

Passengers flying with Xiamen Airlines have the option to check-in online or do things the old fashioned way by checking in at the airport. Those wanting to check-in over the web should be advised that this function is only available on select flights. Checking in at the airport is just as straightforward, but be sure to give yourself plenty of time by arriving at the airport early just to stay safe. For some flights either online or airport check-ins are not available, so check directly with the airline for accurate information about check-in procedures on your flight.

Baggage Allowances and Fees

All travelers flying with Xiamen Airlines are allowed to bring baggage to check-in as part of the fare. How much you are allowed depends both on your cabin class and your destination as the airline operates a zone-based allowance system. On all flights Business Class travelers are permitted two bags up to 32kg, while in First Class this is increased to three bags up to 32kg each. Economy Class travelers are allowed one bag up to 23kg on most flights, although this is increased to two bags up to 23kg each on flights to and from Australia, Canada, the United States and Japan. As well as checked baggage, passengers are entitled to bring one item of hand baggage up to 5kg, increased to two items in First Class.


Xiamen Airlines offers standard Economy seating alongside luxurious Business and First Class seats for those who like traveling in style. Passengers in Economy are afforded ample legroom with a seat pitch of 30-31 inches, while Business Class travelers can stretch out with a seat pitch of 43-50 inches. In First Class legroom is even more generous with a seat pitch of 60 inches.
