SunExpress is an airline headquartered in Antalya, Turkey offering flights across Asia, Europe and North Africa. With two primary hubs at Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport and Antalya Airport, SunExpress operates routes to over 100 destinations with a fleet of 70 aircraft. Owned by both Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa, SunExpress was initially established in 1989 and has grown into one of Turkey’s leading carriers. The airline offers membership to its own frequent flyer program, SunPoints, and also runs a subsidiary airline called SunExpress Deutschland.

How to Check in

Travelers catching a flight with SunExpress are able to check-in over the web or do things the usual way at the airport. For those looking to check-in online, the service is available from 24 hours before flights, closing 6 hours before international flights from outside of Turkey and 3 hours from international flights leaving Turkey, while it is open up to 45 minutes before domestic flights. Be advised that not all airports currently offer online check-ins but plans are being made to widen the availability of this option. For those checking in at the airport, the airline advises travelers to get to a check-in counter at least 2 hours before flights.

Baggage Allowances and Fees

SunExpress allow all passengers to bring baggage to check-in, although how much you are allowed will depend on your fare type and destination. All flights offer between 20-40kg of baggage depending on if you have a SunEco, SunClassic or SunPremium fare and where you are flying to. Be sure to check directly with the airline for information about allowances on your flight. As well as checked baggage, travelers are entitled to bring one item of hand baggage no heavier than 8kg or larger than 55cm x 40cm x 20cm. The airline also charges a fee of 38AED* per kg if your baggage is over your allowance.


You are allowed to reserve a seat before flying for an additional fee if you want to sit together as a family or if you prefer a window or aisle seat, while there is also the option to select extra legroom seats. Standard seats are available for 10AED on domestic flights and 38AED* on international routes, while extra legroom seats cost a little more at 20AED on domestic flights and 75AED* on international flights.

On Board Service

Satisfy your hunger and stay refreshed on board SunExpress flights by enjoying food from the SunCafe in-flight menu. Depending on your fare type, you can either enjoy a complimentary meal or order food in advance. The SunCafe menu is also available through the flight and offers a range of light food and beverages such as sandwiches, snacks, hot and cold drinks and alcoholic beverages. Those who really enjoy their food can opt for a SunPremium meal priced at 58AED* to keep your appetite happy during your journey.
