Cape Town is served by Cape Town International Airport which is located 20km outside of the city. There are currently a number of carriers operating flights to Cape Town from both of Johannesburg’s airports. There are four airlines offering flights from O. R. Tambo International Airport with British Airways, FlySafair, Kulula, Mango and South African Airways, while flights from Lanseria International Airport to Cape Town are operated by FlySafair, Kulula and Mango.

Airport Information - Arriving
Cape Town International Airportis South Africa’s second busiest airport housed within a single-terminal complex. There are many great amenities available at the airport for travelers to enjoy including duty free shopping, a variety of stores and many different places to eat and drink. Most of the dining options are located on the Upper 3rd Level, while duty free is found in the international section towards the north of the airport. Once you have landed you can utilize public transport to get to Cape Town with a MyCiti bus, or taxis are readily available just outside the airport.

O. R. Tambo International Airport is the main airport in Johannesburg and South Africa’s busiest located around 20km from central Johannesburg. The airport is made up of six passenger terminals that are all within close traveling distance of one another so you don’t need to worry when transferring between flights. There are a wide range of amenities and facilities to be enjoyed at the airport whether it’s shops to browse or dining and drinking options.
Lanseria International Airport is a privately owned airport that is much smaller than O. R. Tambo International Airport but still offers ample facilities and amenities. As well a large restaurant on the first floor, there is a snack kiosk and a cafe at the airport to pick up some food and refreshments in addition to duty free shopping. You can also stay connected with limited free Wi-Fi and find car rental companies at the airport.
What to Expect in Cape Town
In Cape Town the weather remains warm all year round with the hottest period falling between December and March. Be advised that considerable rainfall occurs between June and August so you may want to avoid this period if you are planning on doing a lot of exploring. Nationals from many countries are able to enter South Africa without a visa, although UAE nationals will need to get a visa before flying. If you are flying between Johannesburg and Cape Town you won’t need to arrange a visa but remember to bring all of your travel documents including your passport.
