How to Check in

Those traveling with Finnair have the option to check-in in a number of different ways to suit your needs including online, at a self-service kiosk or at a check-in counter. Those checking in online can do so from 36 hours before flights, except for flights to the United States which open 24 hours before departures. The airline also offers an automated check-in process which sends a mobile boarding pass to your device. Alternatively, there are self-service check-in kiosks available at select airports, or you can check-in at a Finnair counter. For those flying out of the Middle East, check-in counters close 1 hour before flights, while those flying back to the Middle East should be advised that counters close 45 minutes before flights.

Baggage Allowances and Fees

All passengers flying with Finnair are allowed to bring baggage to check-in, although how much you can bring varies according to your flight route and cabin class. The Finnair website has a handy baggage calculator that allows passengers to view up-to-date information about specific baggage allowances on their flight. For those on flights to and from the Middle East, Economy Value/Basic travelers can bring one bag up to 23kg, while Economy Pro/Flexible and Business Class passengers are permitted two pieces up to 23kg. In addition to checked baggage, travelers are also permitted to bring hand baggage on board flights. Those flying in Business Class and frequent flyers can bring two items up to 10kg in total, while all other passengers are permitted one item up to 8kg. In addition to this, a personal item such as a laptop or handbag is allowed no larger than 40cm x 30cm x 15cm.


Passengers are able to purchase a preferred seat for a small fee during the booking process or before the flight. Finnair flights offer a regular Economy Class alongside Business Class seating for those looking for a superior flying experience. In Economy Class passengers can look forward to generous legroom with a seat pitch of 31-37 inches, while in Business Class you can stretch out with a seat pitch of 60-81 inches.

Booking Fees

There are no hidden charges or fees when booking flights with Finnair, although the airline adds surcharges when booking at ticket offices. Purchasing tickets from Finnair offices incurs an additional fee of 22AED, increased to 45AED* at an airport ticket office.
