The busiest airport in Spain is Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas Airport which handles over 46 million passengers a year, closely followed by Barcelona-El Prat Airport which serves close to 40 million passengers annually. As a member of the Schengen Area, Spain provides visa-free access to many countries, although nationals from non-EEA countries will require an advance visa for stays over 90 days.

The local currency used in Spain is the Euro, replacing the Spanish peseta in 2002. Spain experiences warm weather for most of the year other than its winter period, although many choose to visit either side of July and August when the weather is slightly cooler. The busiest period for visitors to the country is also between July and August, while the most quiet period tends to fall between November and February when temperatures are a lot lower.
