Airports and Airlines with Direct Flights to the USA from the UAE

If you are looking to travel from the UAE to the US directly you can fly out of Dubai International Airport or Abu Dhabi International Airport with Emirates and Etihad Airways. Dubai International Airport is the main airport serving Dubai and not to be confused with the newer Al Maktoum International Airport, while Abu Dhabi International Airport is the second busiest airport in the UAE after Dubai International.

Getting to Dubai International Airport is extremely easy as it is directly connected to the Dubai Metro so you don’t need to get a taxi. The airport itself offers world-class facilities and amenities whether it’s shops and restaurants or more luxurious qualities such as sleeping pods, airport lounges and even an indoor butterfly garden. All Emirates flights at the airport depart from Terminal 3 which is directly linked to Dubai Metro for easy access.

Abu Dhabi International Airport is around 30 km from the center of Abu Dhabi and is linked to the city by public buses if you’d rather not get a taxi. The airport is home to three passenger terminals and offers everything you would need in terms of amenities and facilities.

Where You Can Fly to in the US

There are a number of destinations in the US that you can fly to directly from the UAE including major cities such as New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Dallas, Houston, Boston and Washington. Other destinations include Orlando and Fort Lauderdale in Florida. Currently the only airlines flying to the US from the UAE are Emirates out of Dubai International Airport and Etihad Airways from Abu Dhabi International Airport.

Airports in the US

There are a number of airports in the US handling direct flights from the UAE – the main airports are New York JFK Airport, Los Angeles International Airport, Chicago O’Hare International Airport and Washington Dulles International Airport.

New York JFK Airport is the busiest in New York made up of six passenger terminals. The airport itself is around 20 km from the center of Manhattan and is linked to New York City by the JFK AirTrain which also connected all six terminals together. There are also alternatives to traveling into New York if you prefer including buses, taxis or renting a car.

Los Angeles International Airport consists of nine passenger terminals which are all connected by a shuttle bus or close enough to transfer between on foot. Once you have arrived at the airport you can travel into Los Angeles by taxi or bus, or alternatively you may want to catch a bus to the nearby metro station.

Chicago O’Hare International Airport is located less than 30 km from Chicago and offers plenty for travelers in terms of shops and restaurants. There are several ways that you can travel into Chicago once you have landed including on the CTA Blue Line which only takes around 45 minutes.

Washington Dulles International Airport is the main airport in Washington housed within a single passenger terminal. The airport is located just over 40 km from Washington and is linked to the city by bus if you’d rather not take a taxi.

When to Go to the USA

The weather across the US varies significantly from region to region so the best time of year to visit will depend on where you go. Some cities in the winter can be extremely cold including New York, although warmer destination like Los Angeles enjoy warm weather throughout the year.

Generally the weather over the summer across the US is pleasant with cities such as New York enjoying highs of up to 28 degrees, while in Washington summer can be even hotter with highs of up to 31 degrees. Remember that as a UAE national you will need to arrange a visa before traveling to the US.
