Bahrain Airport is the main airport serving the country of Bahrain located 7km outside of Manama, the capital of Bahrain. The airport has undergone significant renovation work in recent years to boost its facilities and capacity including the addition of two new terminals. Bahrain Airport is a hub for Gulf Air, the national airline of Bahrain.
Terminals at Bahrain Airport
There are two main passenger terminals at Bahrain Airport. The newest is Terminal 2 which serves many airlines including Etihad Airways and Emirates for flights to Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The recently constructed terminal significantly boosted the passenger capacity of Bahrain Airport as well as increasing the range of amenities available to travelers.
The airport itself is relatively small and getting between the two terminals is quick and easy, so there is nothing to worry about if you need to transfer at the airport.
Facilities at Bahrain Airport
There is a broad selection of amenities and facilities open to travelers at Bahrain Airport whether it’s shopping or eating and drink you are after. There is extensive duty free shopping for those looking to pick up some last minute goods at the airport, as well as a selection of shops located around the airport such as bookstores.
Many places to eat and drink can be found at Bahrain Airport so you can be sure to find somewhere that suits your tastes. As well as leading fast food outlets such as McDonalds, there are many cafes and restaurants if you want to enjoy a hot meal or relax with a drink whilst waiting for your flight.
Bahrain Airport is currently home to three luxurious airport lounges for those who like to wait for flights in comfortable surroundings. Both the Marhaba Lounge and Dilmun Lounge are open to all passengers for a fee and offer a wide range of amenities such as buffet food, refreshments and much more.
Bahrain Airport Travel Information
The most convenient way for travelers to reach their destination is by taxi, although there is the option to rent a car if you want the use of your own vehicle during your stay. Taxis can be found just outside the airport and offer a direct route to your destination - be sure to find a metered taxi so that you get a fair price.
Alternatively, many leading car rental companies are available to passengers at the airport. If you already have your own vehicle there is ample parking to be found at the airport both short and long term. Be advised that you will need to hop on a shuttle bus to the airport from the long term parking area, while regular car parks are located just outside each terminal.
