Air Mauritius is the flag carrier of Mauritius headquartered at Port Louis, the capital of the country. From its main hub at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport just outside of the capital, Air Mauritius flies to over 20 destinations all over the globe and has codeshare agreements with numerous leading airlines such as Emirates. Although the airline was first established in 1967, it was not until 1972 that it began operating commercial flights. Air Mauritius has since grown into one of Africa’s premium airlines and regularly receives awards for its consistent excellence.

How to Check in

Passengers on Air Mauritius flights are able to check-in online from the convenience of your own home, or do things the old fashioned way by checking in at the airport. Checking in online is available from 30 hours up to 2 hours before scheduled flight departure times and also allows travelers to select a preferred seat and print off a boarding pass. Alternatively, checking in at a designated Air Mauritius counter at the airport is just as straightforward. The airline advises passengers to arrive at a check-in counter at least 3 hours before flights just to stay on the safe side.

Baggage Allowances and Fees

Those flying with Air Mauritius are entitled to check-in baggage into the hold, although specific allowances vary according to your flight route and cabin class. Be sure to check directly with the airline for specific information about baggage allowances on your flight. In addition to this, passengers are also entitled to bring one item of hand baggage on board flights in Economy and two in Business Class not exceeding 7kg each. Any baggage that exceeds your allowances will incur fees which also depend on your route and cabin class.

Seating and On Board Service

Air Mauritius flights offer a standard Economy Class in addition to a luxurious Business Class. In Economy passengers can look forward to spacious legroom with a seat pitch of 31 inches, while in Business Class you can stretch out to your heart’s content with a seat pitch of 60 inches. Passengers in all cabin classes are serve complimentary drinks and food on flights, while those with special dietary needs can order special meals with at least 48 hours’ notice.
