Thomson, also known as Thomson Airways, offers around 100 flights to destinations all over the globe, including many domestic destinations within the UK. The airline was originally named Britannia Airways in 1964 before rebranding in 2008 after merging with other airlines. How to Check In

Passengers flying with Thomson are able to check-in online, although how soon you can check in will depend on whether or not you select a seat. The standard online check-in service opens 7 days before scheduled flights, although those who have selected a seat will find you can check-in up to 14 days before your flight. During the online check-in process you are also able to arrange any baggage you need to check-in. If you choose not to select a preferred seat, one will automatically be assigned to you free of charge.

Bagagge Allowances and Fees

Thomson allow passengers to check-in baggage, although your precise allowance will depend on your flight. Most flights allow passengers to bring up to 15kg of baggage, although some holiday packages permit an additional 5kg. In addition to checked baggage, passengers are also allowed to take one item of hand baggage on board the flight no heavier than 5kg (7kg on some flights) or exceeding 55cm x 40cm x 20cm. Any baggage that goes over the weight or size limit will be subject to excess baggage charges.


Passengers on Thomson flights have the option to select a preferred seat, although those who have not done so will automatically be assigned a seat. Standard seats on Thomson flights have a seat pitch of 28 inches, while longer flights offer slightly more legroom at 32 inches. Travelers are also able to upgrade to more preferable seats including Seats with Extra Space and Premium Club seats offering improved legroom.

Booking Fees

Although paying with a debit card will not incur any additional fees, those purchasing tickets with a credit card will need to pay an additional 1.5% on top of your overall ticket price.
