How to Check In

There are a number of ways that passengers are able to check-in for Virgin Atlantic flights including online and by mobile. The online check-in service is available from 24 hours up to 1 hour before flights, while self-service check-in kiosks are available at select airports for those wanting to beat the queues. Alternatively, checking in the traditional way at a Virgin Atlantic check-in counter is possible. Virgin Atlantic counters are open from 2 hours up to 1 hour before scheduled flight departure times. During the online check-in process, passengers are able to select a seat on the flight.

Baggage Allowances and Fees

Flying with Virgin Atlantic entitled you to check-in baggage as part of your fare, although just how much you are allowed to bring depends on your cabin class. Those flying in Economy are allowed to bring one bag no heavier than 23kg, while in Premium Economy this allowance is increased to two bags at 23kg each. Flying in Upper Class entitles passengers to even more baggage allowance at three items weighing no more than 32kg each. All travelers are able to check-in additional baggage but this will incur an extra baggage fee - the fee for an extra bag or for overweight bags is around 300AED*. All passengers are also permitted to bring one item of hand baggage on board no heavier than 10kg, except for Upper Class travelers who are allowed to bring two items on board with a maximum weight of 16kg in total.


Virgin Atlantic flights consist of a regular Economy Class in addition to a Premium Economy Class and the luxurious Upper Class. Economy passengers can enjoy a standard seat pitch of 31 inches, while in Premium Economy there is a little bit more room to stretch at 38 inches. In Upper Class, travelers can look forward to spacious legroom with a seat pitch of 79-82 inches. During the online check-in process you are able to select a preferred seat on your flight. Complimentary meals and refreshments are served on all Virgin Atlantic flights in addition to various amenities such as in-flight entertainment and toiletries.
