Air Astana

Air Astana is the flag carrier of Kazakhstan headquartered in Almaty, Kazakhstan’s largest city. The airline's main hub is at Almaty International Airport and a second hub at Astana International Airport in the capital of Kazakhstan. Established in 2001, the airline flew its first commercial flight in 2002 and has expanded to fly to over 60 destinations including Abu Dhabi International Airport and Dubai International Airport. Air Astana's frequent flyer program is the Nomad Club, and the airline recently opened its Shanyrak Lounge at Astana International Airport.

How to Check in

Air Astana passengers are able to check-in online or do things the conventional way by checking in at the airport. The online check-in service is available from 24 hours up to 1 hour before most flights other than those departing from Dushanbe and Kazan where it closes 3 hours before flights. After checking in passengers are then able to print off a boarding pass and head to a designated Air Astana baggage drop off point or go straight to your departure gate. During the online check-in process passengers are also able to select a preferred seat for no additional charge. Travelers choosing to check-in at the airport should be advised that check-in counters close 40 minutes before scheduled departure times, although at Dubai International Airport counters close an hour before flights.

Baggage Allowances and Fees

All passengers on board Air Astana flights are entitled to bring baggage to check-in, although just how much you are allowed will depend upon your destination and flight class. Those flying in Economy Class are permitted to bring up to 20kg of baggage to check-in, while Economy Sleeper and Business Class passengers are entitled up to 30kg. Travelers should be advised that baggage allowances can vary from route to route, so be sure to check with the airline for accurate information about your flight. Passengers are also permitted a personal item to bring on board such as a briefcase or handbag, increased to two items in Business Class.

Seating

Air Astana flights offer a regular Economy Class as well as an improved Economy Sleeper Class and a premium Business Class. During the online check-in process travelers are able to select a preferred seat free of charge. Passengers in Economy Class are afforded standard legroom with a seat pitch of 30-35 inches, while those in Business Class can look forward to spacious legroom with a seat pitch between 36-59 inches depending on the aircraft.
