Atlantic Airways

Atlantic Airways is the national airline of the Faroe Islands operating international flights in addition to domestic helicopter flights around the Faroe Islands from its base at Vagar Airport. The airline was originally established as a joint venture between the government of the Faroe Islands and Cimber Air, a Danish airline, in 1987 before it was taken over completely by the government in 1989. The airline has grown significantly since the turn of the millennia and has also become partially privatized. A number of Atlantic Airways flights are operated on a seasonal basis, although there are many permanent flights to Nordic countries as well as charter flights across Europe.
