Hong Kong Express

Hong Kong Express, often shortened to HK Express, is a budget airline based in Hong Kong offering flights across Asia. From its base Hong Kong International Airport, Hong Kong Express operates flights to over 25 destinations with a fleet of 21 Airbus aircraft. Founded in 2004, Hong Kong Express first started as a regular airline before announcing its plans to become a low-cost carrier in 2013 under the rebranded name of HK Express, and is part of the U-FLY Alliance, established in 2016 as the first alliance of low-cost airlines in the world.

How to Check in

Passengers flying with Hong Kong Express are able to check-in over the web from the convenience of your own home, or do things the traditional way by checking in at the airport. Those looking to check-in online can do so from 48 hours up to 75 minutes before departure times - however, be advised that online check-in is only available for certain flights. Alternatively, check-in at the airport at a Hong Kong Express counter. Check-in opening times vary according to your airport, so check with the airline for accurate information. Hong Kong Express advises passengers to arrive at the airport at least 90 minutes before departure, while counters close 1 hour before flights.

Baggage Allowances and Fees

Hong Kong Express flights do not offer baggage allowances as part of the fare, so travelers will need to purchase any baggage they need to take with them. Either20kg, 25kg or 30kg of baggage can be purchased and fees vary according to your method of purchase - the cheapest rates are available if you purchase baggage during your booking compared to the higher rates offered at the airport. Although the airline does not offer free checked baggage, all passengers are entitled to bring one item of hand baggage on board free of charge. Hand baggage must not exceed 56cm x 36cm x 23cm or weigh more than 7kg.

Seating

Hong Kong Express offers a single Economy Class with the option to purchase upgraded seats. As well as upfront seats for those who want to get off the plane first, there are also ‘Sweet Seats’ which afford additional legroom if you like to have more space on board flights. Seats can be selected and paid for during the booking process, from a call center or at the airport. Be advised that the cheapest rates are offered to those who buy seats during the initial booking phase.

On Board Service

On board Hong Kong Express flights travelers are able to purchase food and drinks and can also pre-order meals online and get discounted prices. Be advised that pre-booking meals and beverages must be done no later than 4 days before scheduled departure times. The airline also offers extensive in-flight duty free shopping if you want to pick up some last minute gifts and souvenirs.
