Shanghai Airlines

Shanghai Airlines is a subsidiary airline of China Eastern Airlines headquartered in Shanghai, China. Out of its two operating hubs at Shanghai Pudong International Airport and Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport, the airline operates flights to 140 destinations across China and Asia as part of the China Eastern Airlines network. Founded in 1985 before merging with China Eastern Airlines in 2010, the airline now has a fleet of over 80 aircraft and is also an affiliate member of the SkyTeam alliance. Regular travelers with Shanghai Airlines may consider joining up to the Eastern Miles frequent flyer program headed by its parent airline China Eastern Airlines.

How to Check in

If you are catching a flight with Shanghai Airlines you can check in from the convenience of your own home online or do things the traditional way at the airport. Travelers can check in over the web up to 1 hour before departure times and are also able to select a preferred seat. In addition to this, you will also receive a boarding pass which can be printed out to skip the queues at the airport. If you prefer to do things the old fashioned way, simply visit a Shanghai Airlines counter at the airport to check in.

Baggage Allowances and Fees

Shanghai Airlines passengers are allowed to bring baggage to check in as part of the fare, although your allowance depends on your flight class and final destination. On domestic flights passengers are allowed 20kg in Economy, 30kg in Business and 40kg in First Class. For international routes, baggage allowances vary so be sure to contact the airline directly if you are unsure about how much baggage you can bring. Members of the Eastern Miles frequent flyer program will be allowed additional baggage on top of your allowance.

Seating

Shanghai Airlines flights offer a regular Economy Class in addition to Business Class and First Class seating for those who like to fly in luxury. In Economy there is ample legroom to stay comfortable during your trip, while in Business and First Class you can really stretch out with generous legroom.
