WestJet

WestJet is an airline based in Calgary, Canada and the second-largest airline in the country. With its primary operating hub at Calgary International Airport and two additional hubs at Toronto Pearson International Airport and Vancouver International Airport, WestJet flies to over 90 destinations with a fleet of 119 aircraft. Since it was established in 1996, WestJet has grown to become the ninth-largest airline in North America and owns WestJet Encore, a regional airline in Canada.

How to Check in

Those catching a WestJet flights are able to check-in in a number of different ways to suit your needs whether it’s online or at the airport. Checking in online or by mobile is available from 24 hours up to 1 hour before flights, while passengers can also opt to check-in at a self-service kiosk up to 24 hours before flights. Alternatively, checking in at an airport counter is possible from 3 hours before flights, closing 1 hour before international flights and 45 minutes before domestic flights. The airline advises travelers to check-in at least 2 hours before international flights and 90 minutes before domestic flights.

Baggage Allowances and Fees

WestJet flights allow passengers to bring checked baggage as part of the fare, although in some cases fees may apply depending on your route. On most flights passengers are allowed to check-in bags up to 23kg, with some flights allowing passengers to bring three or four bags on a space-available basis. Any bag that exceeds the 23kg limit will incur a surcharge of 205-245AED* depending on your flight. All travelers are also entitled to bring one item of hand baggage no larger than 53cm x 38cm x 23cm alongside a personal item such as a laptop or handbag.

Seating

Travelers on WestJet flights have the option to select a preferred seat, with the option to upgrade to Plus seats which offer improved legroom. Prices vary according to the length of your flight, but standard seats cost as little as 14AED on short flights up to 55AED* on long flights. Travelers can also upgrade to a Plus fare to enjoy more legroom, with prices starting at 55AED on short flights up to 550AED* on long-haul routes. A range of in-flight amenities such as earbuds, rental tablets and in-flight internet connectivity is available for an added price.
