Phuket International Airport is the main gateway to Phuket, one of Thailand’s premier destinations. Passengers coming from Bangkok to Phuket are able to fly from both Suvarnabhumi Airport and Don Mueang International Airport. There are four airlines offering flights via Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport – Bangkok Airways, Thai Airways, Thai Smile and Thai Vietjet Air, and there are three airlines offering flights from Don Mueang International Airport – Nok Air, Thai AirAsia and Thai Lion Air.

Airport Information - Arriving

Phuket International Airport has three passenger terminals - Terminal 2 is reserved for international flights, while Terminal 3 is for domestic operations. The airport also has a Terminal X which is utilized for charter flights. Getting between the terminals is easy as they are situated next to one another, so those needing to transfer can do so quickly and conveniently. There is an ample choice of places to eat and drink at the airport such as snack bars and cafes, while duty-free shopping is available in the international terminal. There is an airport bus running into the Patong Beach area and taxis are available outside the terminal, while it is common for hotels to provide their own shuttle service. Alternatively, you can visit one of the car rental providers at the airport and explore the wonders of Phuket by car.

Airport Information - Departing

Suvarnabhumi Airport is the busiest airport in Thailand situated 25 km from the capital. The airport is home to a wide selection of amenities whether it’s shopping or places to eat you’re after. Suvarnabhumi Airport is fairly new having only opened up in 2006 and is noted for its modern facilities and extensive duty free shopping. Although the airport is only made up of a single terminal, it is extremely large and believed to be the world’s biggest terminal building. Getting into central Bangkok from the airport is quick and easy with the Airport Rail Link which only takes 25 minutes.

Bangkok's second airport is Don Mueang International Airport which was once the city’s primary airport before the construction of Suvarnabhumi Airport. There is a decent range of amenities available to travelers at the airport including cafes and restaurants if you need to refuel as well as a number of stores. The airport underwent significant renovation work in 2007 which helped to significantly improve its facilities up to modern standards. Most travelers looking to get around Bangkok hop in a taxi outside the airport, although there are also public trains available.
